General Policy
I believe in the Social media as a medium for open exchange and learning, collaboration, discussion and networking. I support the use of this technology and will gladly offer advice or tips for those who want to participate or engage in social media.
Transparency
I will always state clearly that opinions expressed are my own, but acknowledge that I may still be seen by others as representing a company when I participate in social media. I respect the free speech rights and have no interest in forcing anyone to conform to my beliefs, views or positions.
Appropriate use
I believe that social media sites and tools is a valuable means of sharing information and collaborating on work problems. Therefore I will continue to participate and access these sites during work hours and using work computers. However, I will use sound judgement and common sense and will not abuse this privilege.
Violating the policy
If anyone believes that my use of social media during work hours is improper, resulting in performance issues or is creating a risk to the company, I will gladly accept any disciplinary action as long as the claim is valid and non-anonymous. If you post to me using threatening, hateful, obscene or harassing content I will use my right to erase your comment.
Fair use
I will not post copyrighted material owned by others, nor will I neglect to credit the authors of content that I reference or make use of. When possible I will always link to others’ work, websites or blogs. My communications will always be respectful. I will never post images or information about other people without their permission.
